Acerca de esta escucha

When news outlets reveal church scandals or we hear stories about people leaving the church, it can seem as though we are in a bit of a crisis as the Body of Christ. In Being a Sanctuary, Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez—who has experienced abuse, trauma, and racism within the church—takes us on an honest, biblical, and reflective journey as she examines the state of the church and offers us a hopeful path forward.

Perreaux-Dominguez focuses on three aspects of God's vision for the church: that it would be sacred (Bible based), soft (trauma informed), and safe (justice centered). Each section of the book explores what these mean for the church using biblical teaching, practical instruction, and stories from her own experiences. She unpacks practical steps the body of Christ can take to realize this vision and cultivate a lifestyle of being a sanctuary, including repenting, pursuing sanctification, showing Christ's compassion, healing injustices, choosing unity over uniformity, and being advocates.

This book is for anyone ready to be both challenged and encouraged on how we, as the Body of Christ, can collectively return to God's foundational call to be radicals who choose the path of being sacred, soft, and safe—just like Jesus is.

As I listened to this powerful book, I felt hopeful. I've missed the Sanctuary of church, faith, love and community. With questions answered I now must be willing to step up and be sacred, soft and safe for others. Thank you for your grace, your dignity and compassion to our mission and God's purpose.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected! I love her honesty! She made some observations that most clergy and/or church members have chosen to ignore especially when it comes to race and racism. What I love most is that she offers some possible solutions, and selah moments.

I loved the way the author challenged us with the ? after each chapter. I'm a white American 57 year old and in all honesty, all of her part on women being silenced.. I qualified . From the classes I was only aloud to teach and childrens church, committee, to VBS, team kids, but was blessed in my age. it was the way it was. In many churches , where I louve.. Central Ky.. Christian non denominational any way
mega too, things are really changing. They are not in this area even though not one church is perfect. So the audience of this book needs to be playfully open. A few things in ch 10.. I need discussing. Still overall awesome and trye and stepped on my toes.. Always seeing everyone as Image bearers and souls we love like Jesus.. Is tough or was. I still have a lot of issues( although better), with the entire Trump/ somehow christian.. not or sent by God to do what?? and in again. That hurt so many people. Still leaders like Franklin Graham and more I used to trust and 2/ 3 of my voting Bible Belt town in Central Ky. is always in my head when I finally made it or make it back to church. When the author states again.. They are image bearers we are to love.. It's hard ... Praying and thank you

So many challenging thoughts on this new reforming walk with Jesus that the author hit.
