I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was engaging and educational at the same time which can be a feat in itself. I love the story telling way in which Lisa narrates the book.

Dr. Harper blends history with current life - and ties it in to her own - all in a successful endeavor communicating the undeniable, tangible value of living a Jesus shaped life.

Breath of Fresh Air

So glad I didn't believe the negative reviews. This is definitely not a dusty, confusing theology book. She does a fantastic job of connecting the dots between the Old and New Testaments, giving us a deeper understanding of our faith. And she's funny. Highly recommend.

The necessity of divine grace

The quote from Lisa that stuck with me the most was, “Being honest about my shortcomings is a practical way to amplify the divine grace I will need until I’m in heaven”.

The entire book was well-written and was done so in typical Lisa fashion. Wonderful personal stories with beautiful biblical connections.

Enlightening

I learned new things and it clarified some confusing concepts. It helped me see God in more loving ways and made me feel a little less anxious about life.

Tangible theology

Love Lisa’s approach to theology and how she makes it so tangible. I’ve never really thought of how it can be lived as opposed to just learned. She really makes the relationship key.

The chronological order of the 4 gospels

I like how the stories in the 4 gospels are in chronological order. I’ve listened to this devotional more than once & read it several times.

The authors intellect never ceases to amaze!

Lisa knows how to speak to the heart!

One thing I love about Lisa is she will not only teach you the Bible, but teach you the background of Jesus’ time. Lisa has been such a huge part of my walk with Jesus and I will be forever grateful the Lord chose her Bible study for my women’s Bible study about 10 years ago. She broke things down for my struggling mind to understand and she continues to do so! I have seen Lisa speak five times and one of those times I got a huge hug and an autograph. Lisa uses great examples from the Bible to engage you and show you how we are still experiencing the same circumstances and how God graciously wants to be with us!
