Really good !

I’m a tough critic, and although this story was very much enjoyable, I just felt like it was too “Walking Dead” but I do LOVE TWD, so I almost felt like it was the same, just a different persons story, in a different part of the country. Also, Vickie is pretty lame and I’m holding on to the hope that she is going to redeem herself. She’s relatable to me bc I’m an aunt and I’d do this for the kids, no questions, but other than her being there for them, she’s not great.

The narrator was meh, she seems rushed and monotone, I wish someone else would have performed and since I don’t have the physical book, it is what it is.

I’m invested and already purchased the next book. Overall it’s a good story.

Ode to an Alcoholic

Meh. Unlike other reviewers, I didn’t care for the narrator. Seemed rushed and petulant. I also didn’t care for the constant preoccupation with alcohol. I get that it’s a pretty accurate depiction of how the mind of an alcoholic works, but having known, cared for or lost a few people who struggled with alcoholism, I had a hard time getting past what felt like a glorification of the disease. Usually there is at least a singular quality that endears you to a character. For Nicki, I held onto the fact that she kept slowly showing signs of accepting her own choice to stay and be present enough for the kids to finish it - but - there isn’t anything bada$$ about being a bully. And she had some tendencies. There were parts of the dialogue where I wanted to shake her for that kind of behavior. Toward people she barely knew, toward the kids, the guy that saved her more than once and the crazy lady. It bothers me. Just not a great person. I know it is just a book. But I love these kinds of books and have read the author before and really enjoyed her work. So I guess maybe, just disappointed? Hopefully the MC will have some growth in book two but I don’t think I’ll be making it there. Overall? It was just okay for me.

Great Narrator

Love post apocalyptic fiction. Have read or listened to numerous books in the genre. This one was very good. Only reason I gave 4 stars on the story was I personally not so much into zombies. Even though I am more into realistic apocalyptic fiction. But I guess anything is possible

Excellent for the young reader.

The Zombie apocalypse as told by the young, naive, and lucky. Mild gore, mild sexual innuendo, and lots of crazies.

Disappointed

I loved the very well-written, exciting, zombie apocalypse Sundown Series by Courtney Konstantin. In anticipation of a similar listening experience, I spent a credit on Babysitter of the Apocalypse. Unfortunately, the story was very dull with no real direction and I had for force myself to finish. I've listened to other books narrated by Vanessa Johnson that I enjoy, but her narration of this book, in comparison, was aweful.

Sorry. It's a big NO. Take a pass on this one.

Nice change of pace

I love stories that are not just the same old zombie story. A new spin was enjoyable looking forward to the next in the series

easy to get into

I was a bit worried I wouldn't like this as much as the other series. I'm really enjoying it! it's easy to get into the story and id definitely listen again.

walking dead with kids!

I know Judith was a baby on walking dead but this one really reminded me of that but with a 5yr old and a 1 and a half yr old with people who isn't there parents! turned out a very good series! can't wait for next one.
