Another great addition!

Amazing Author, stunning Narrator. The story kept me interested but the Narrator, like with all their books, creates a living world!
truly greatful they exist!

Best in the series so far!

Great story, great characters this has become one of my favorite series of all time!

Blasphemously Good Character Development

The author has definitely refined a lot of the characters in this book into something quite detailed. The world building is also quite exquisite. I have hated and loved the choices of the main character, which is something that a lot of authors don’t dare to do and leave a lot of characters one-dimensional. I think this effort to take us on a true journey of fallibility gives us something much more genuine than most can achieve. Earlier on, I grew to hate the main character’s seeming patriarchal tendencies, but the author shows us a departure and growth from this and does not do it in an accelerated timeframe that is unrealistic, but superficially pleasing to the reader.

Wow first to review this excellent experience of book 5! Love the new class for the MC. It was very on the nose, however sad that he had to give up something that was made him special in my opinion. Anyway loved how now the world is expanding to more than just one continent and we getting more insight to what the planet is what truly is the end goal for the endings. Looking forward to the next book it will be well worth the wait!

The reveals in this book were great.

Favorite book of the bunch and such a good twist on the genre.
Hopefully looking forward to a long series with a super strong Mc at the end.

Decent story line.

If you like 6 to 9 chapters explaining how the world works and magic. You'll like this. Worth the listen, but now that I'm on book i skipped entire chapters on magic, science theory. Worth the listen. won't listen again for a few years.

Love seeing how far these characters have come!

This book was so good!! Really well paced I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed how Nathan and the Heirs got to show off their builds and how they've progressed. I've been into the blend of science and magic since the beginning and it continues to get better. Phil Thron does a stellar job, very compelling to listen to even during some dryer explanations. Always very interested to learn more about Questors and Davrar at large. I love this series and can't wait for more!

Just okay...

5 books in and I cannot say I love this series.
The author has a tendency to repeat himself, which is very tiresome.
He also writes these long novels that are partly filled with mundane things. For instance, this book. It was filled with mostly insights & a few skirmishes. I feel like most of this book could have been condensed into an hour & I would have walked away just the same.
Finally, I had to listen to the entire series on 2.15× speed just to get through it. While the narrator is decent, he's very slow.
I'm disappointed that I have to wait probably another 6 months for the next book. I'm also afraid that when it comes out it'll be similar to this book & the last regarding actually content and the lack of continuation for the overall plot. At least 60% of these last two books were spent in Nathan's head.
This could have been an excellent series had the author not got so caught up in telling tales that really didn't need to be told. Also Nathan's leveling up is kind of absurd, ranking up for simply thinking all the time. It makes it seem as though everyone else on this world is stupid compared to him which is far from true.
