Resumen del Editor

A novel filled with fresh insights into the story of Henry VIII's second - and most infamous - wife, Anne Boleyn. The new book in the epic Six Tudor Queens series, from the acclaimed historian and best-selling author of Katherine of Aragon.

It is the spring of 1527. Henry VIII has come to Hever Castle in Kent to pay court to Anne Boleyn. He is desperate to have her. For this mirror of female perfection he will set aside his queen and all Cardinal Wolsey's plans for a dynastic French marriage.

Anne Boleyn is not so sure. She loathes Wolsey for breaking her betrothal to the Earl of Northumberland's son, Harry Percy, whom she had loved. She does not welcome the king's advances; she knows that she can never give him her heart. But hers is an opportunist family. And whether Anne is willing or not, they will risk it all to see their daughter on the throne.

My favorite queen

Well done. This book focuses not only on Anne's flaws as a human, but on her desire to survive. She had to be cunning and intelligent and outmanuveur people. It wasn't ONLY sleeping with the king. Can you imagine walking in on YOUR husband with someone? It must have been hard on her.

This book is a great representation of what she could have been like, based on record and letters recovered. Another wonderful Weir book.

Politics and bias will always endure

I'm really glad to have read this book. I feel it does offer a different insight into Anne Boleyn. It reminds me of the Aniston/Jolie drama of our day as well as the disrespect given to our current President with fabrications and lies by the media. Unfortunately we will never know the real truth as the recording of history is based on the "version of truth" seen by the recorder and their biases. There will always be corruption in the world. So this was a refreshing account of what may have really happened.

another perspective of Anne boleyn

I have always read of Anne as calculating and manipulative even at the beginning before meeting Henry, and it was refreshing to see her in this book- more innocent, a captive of the king's unrelenting affections. it makes her death the more tragic, I literally cried in my car when she dies, because in the end she was a human being and Henry was a hard master to please, and this book just made me see anne more like a person and not a vixen. of course I believe once she was sure if Henry's love, she got more comfortable and started working on her agenda, she definitely got carried away.

in this book I didn't like that Mary was so nasty.

also in this book, George admits to poisoning C Catherine, which might very well be the case

overall, I got hooked and was sad when the story ended. bravo!

Anne Boleyn, A Lady Maligned

It is finally here, and it's the fact that Queen Anne has her reputation back again, thanks to Allison Weir, and I personally want q thank you.
The book is the opposite of what you know about this guiltless young lady that was another q11q of the 1q Henry V111.
The Tudors took inbreeding to another level, and by the way, the Crown should give the land they believe they own back to the people. It's not your own recreational area.

Excellent

I learned more about Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. It was very interesting and how society bowed and jostled to the supreme ruling class.

could have been hours shorter

Book was well written, and story was full of history. However, it took hours and hours to get thru the story before they were married. I know it took years for the marriage to occur, but it shouldn't have taken so long to get thru those years. The same story over and over again.
