This was ruined by the narrator, what a shame!

There are four books in this series and I don't know why, but books two and three had a different narrator than the first book. The narrator for the first book and book four was excellent, so, imagine how ripped off you feel when you buy the whole series expecting good quality narration and you can tell this narrator is inexperienced.
I really like Kristi Ann Hunter's style of writing. She's a talented author and has a great sense of humor, and in book one, I was really enjoying the first narrator's delivery of some funny lines. Then, I get to THIS book and she could not deliver a funny line. She over pronounces her words and doesn't seem to know how to deal with punctuation. A sentence would end (with a period, of course) but she would blow right through it without stopping. It's infuriating. And Audible won't let me return this one, which is even more infuriating.

Just beware that if you liked the first book, this one and the third one in the series are just awful. I got through them only because I really wanted to see what happened with each sibling, as there are 4 of them and each book concentrated on one of the four. I couldn't wait to get to the fourth book in the series where Kristi goes back to the original narrator in book one.
It really is a shame, Kristi Ann Hunter should just pay for a good narrator and keep her audio books consistent.
It would make us, who pay good money for credits a whole lot happier. Now, I feel like I can't trust her with her series in the future if there is a change of narrators.

Wonderful Story and Content

I was at first not as excited with the story line but it evolved into a wonderful lesson for us all! I loved the praise and love inspired by all the Hawthorne family and characters. Thanks Be To GOD we all have a purpose and direction even in today’s culture and events.

the narrator did good

i listen to most of my books at a higher speed then most people but i felt like the narrator did a good job. her voice and way of portraying the characters never bothered me at all. also i feel the writer did a wonderful job at writing her story. both of these undertaking take a lot of time Entergy and i really appreciate all that both of you ladies poured into this book.
i actually did feel like there was much reference to God in this book until close to the end when the main character has a revelation about how she has been living her life. i felt like it was really good and could have even had more talked about in that time.

loved it!

I loved the first book in this series. I've listened to it at least 4 times! I Crack up every time. While the first book has the intrigue and somewhat of a comedic aspect, this one is on a more serious note. A good portion of this book soinds very familiar to the first at many of the situationsvare repeated, but told from the view ponts of the main characters in this book. It does seem a bit repetitive, but I really enjoy how this story makes you rethink how you viewed the characters in the first book...it really left me thinking!
I love the narration of the first book so much I was really hoping this one would be similar...it's not my favorite, but I think the book overall hold up and is worth the listen...I'll probably end up re-listening to this one too!

Story was great, narrator wasn't.

The narrator of this book is very distracting and annoying. She focuses on enunciating too much to the point that the delivery is stilted. I remember another book that she narrated where she bothered me do much that I had to get rid of the book. She does occasionally forget to over enunciate throughout the house which makes those parts perfect. It seems to be when she stops over analyzing her performance that the story will flow.

Good Book, Terrible Narration

What didn’t you like about Charlotte Anne Dore’s performance?

She was very choppy and I constantly found myself distracted from the story because her narration was so poor! I am thoroughly disappointed to find that she narrated the third book as well given how poor her performance was in this book.

Any additional comments?

The story itself is pretty good and I would recommend it to other listeners. Just be aware that the narrator ruins the story just a bit and the experience will not be as good as the first book because of this.

PHENOMENAL STORY!!!!!!! So glad I stuck with it!

I had to rewind and relisten to the first few chapters a few times. (Narrator first few chapters was not very captivating....but definitely got better and better....) BUT by the third chapter or so I got pulled in! Amazing storyline. LOVED the character development and the strength they find. Would totally listen to this again. Love the twists...Totally worth the credit!!!!

Can't get past the Narrator

I love this book, and I enjoy reading it, however I just can't get past the Narrator to enjoy the audiobook.

Over enunciation KILLS the story

I would love to say how the story is, but after listening to more than 100 books in my life, this narrator ruins the story by over enunciating E V E R Y T H I N G. It’s painful to listen to. Her tone is pleasant enough, if she could just read more fluently...good grief! I had to return it. Too bad, because I would have loved to see how this story played out.

Great sequel

I loved the way the vane and selfish Georgina was transformed by the power of the Word of God in this book!
