An ending would be nice

I feel Ike the attempt at a cliff hanger is disappointing at best. The story is decent but then nothing.

Billionaire/wanna be lawyer, rule breaker vs rule follower, miscommunication, and hot spice.

Hunter and Meg will not get their HEA until book 7 in the series, but you will see their history/relationship progress through the other books.

It does end in a cliffhanger!

I listened to the audiobook of this, and loved it! I think that hearing the voices gives you so much more as a reader. You really can feel the emotions. You connect much quicker to the characters as well. These narrators were top notch.

Prequel to the series but cute to read on its own as well.

Really need an ending to each book

Each of the books in these series are quite good. However, the reader is left hanging at the end of the book. Very frustrating to have this happen book after book.

Not a happy ever after, just the beginning.

I liked this story a lot. It was entertaining and enjoyable with a few exceptions. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Meg and Hunter were absolutely perfect for each other. Unfortunately they both had some issues to deal with. Hunter was doing something shady to help his family but it involved another woman which was a big deal for Meg. Meg had every right to be upset with Hunter. I wanted them to sit down and talk it out but that didn’t happen. As much as I loved Hunter and Meg together, I felt that they needed to move on if they weren’t going to hash it out. This was an amazing introduction to Meg and Hunter as well as some of the rest of the Svensson’s. I recommend reading this book. Or listening to the audiobook. The narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. The male narrator can read to me anytime! Hubba hubba!

Great Story

I originally read this story on my kindle and LOVED it.

I just finished the audio version on audible and it took me a few chapters to get into Meghan's character. In fact, before writing this review, I went and heard it one more time to make sure it wasn't me being off because I couldn't put my Kindle down when I originally read this book. It was so good, I recommended it to family and friends.

However, in the audible version, it seems to take the narrator a few chapters of Meghan's character for me to really get into the audio version of this book.

The male narrator hit it out of the park.

All in all, I do recommend the book though. Whether audio or reading on your own, that's up to you, but don't miss out. It is a great read and the situation the characters are in, especially the Svensson's brothers, is unique in its own way.

The beginning - Meg and Hunters origin story

4.5 stars for me...I adore all things Alina Jacobs and will read and listen to anything she does. I love that this was a back story for Meg and Hunter's beginnings. While we see them in so many of Jacob's other reads, I love that I final have the story of where it all began with these two. While this does not end in a HEA for either of these two wildly independent and caring characters their back and forth dynamic and the intense chemistry is oh so good! The dual narration on this audio is perfect. While I loved that this book traverses a time span, it's also the thing I felt could have been done better - initially the storyline flowed but then seemed to jump and then jump again - but really because you knew the characters from the start you knew why they reacted as they did...while I've read (and listened) to several of Jacob's books already - it makes me want to read/listen to them all over again!

After His Peonies

I had seen Alina Jacobs books suggested a number of times and the punny titles and cute covers made me want to try them out. I am so glad I did!

The characters and story are unique and fun. I really liked Meghan and could sympathize with Hunter's family difficulties. We get some looks at how crazy it is for him and his other brothers taking care of their younger siblings. I am curious to learn more about them and their family in future books, too.

The author does a nice job balancing humor, romance, and the conflict Meghan and Hunter find themselves in. I was surprised by the ending, though, and hope we get more from these two in a future book!

I am sick of the detailings of sex. The story could have been good without all the random.
