I loved everything about it

I didn’t realize how little fun I’d been having reading books lately until I read this one. There wasn’t anything about it that I didn’t like. It’s just fun. I’m an adult and I loved it, but I can share it with my 12 year old and she is going to love it too. If you’ve never read a light adventure story about sassy magic gingerbread men saving a kingdom, then you don’t know what you’re missing.

Wonderful

A fantastic YA book about the heroism of everyday people and making the most of the talents you have. Bob the homicidal sourdough starter is now one of my favorite characters. Highly recommended for middle grade through adult.

Better than I expected, with one complaint

I really enjoyed this book. It is kind of rare to find a solo fantasy book these days, and I enjoyed this slower paced book. The narrator was excellent and the characters were fun, if simple. I really liked the first person perspective and the many references to baking woven throughout by the narrator (the main character). The magic was interesting and fun. My only complaint is that ending was not as satisfying as I had hoped. The final problem only appeared in the last 2 hours of the book and the "solution" was very much a Deus Ex Machina ending.

This was so much fun, and went too quickly. Can't wait for more stories here.

Death by Sourdough

Delightful. T. Kingfisher has done it again. The world building is wonderful but it's the characters that kept me reading. I want to tie on my apron and bake up some naughty gingerbread. Narration only added to the story.

Story is very cute! Highly recommend for middle grades and up. Narrator is good too.

I actually shed a few tears at parts. This was a well written book and the narrator was phenomenal!
