A DISAPPOINTMENT FROM JAMES LEE BURKE
Perhaps it is because I listened to the abridged version, but I felt the story was shallow. Love the reading by Will Patton. Would not recommend this book to others.

To short a story. Not what I am accustomed to in Burke’s other titles. Not as much bang for the buck.

All the color and mystery of old Louisiana, Dave Robicheaux solves the mystery the hard way, as usual.
For me Will Patton is "the voice" of James Lee Burke, so this was perfectly narrated.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I feel cheated anytime I listen to an abridged version of James Lee Burke's novels narrated by Will Patton.

Riveting
You can't beat a Dave Robicheau novel. I read the book and then listened to the audio. Will Patton is my favorite narrator of James Burke novels. Burke really does his research!!

WILL PATTON VS MARK HAMMER
I listened to this abridged version because it was read by Will Patton. I just can’t stand listening to books read by Mark Hammer and he read the full version. I know I would have enjoyed this book more had it been the long version read by Will Patton. They need to have Will Patton redo ALL the books read by Mark Hammer. !!!!!!

Abridged
I love these novels but had no idea I was purchasing an abridged version. Wow !!!
Disappointed and I feel like my book credit was stolen why would I want to purchase an abridged version?

I hate abridged books, there is no excuse for this
Would you try another book from James Lee Burke and/or Will Patton?
I love James Lee Burke. I love Will Patton. I had no idea I was getting an abridged book (my fault) but I could not finish it. DO NOT BUY THIS ABRIDGED BOOK
Would you ever listen to anything by James Lee Burke again?
I love James Lee Burke's book and love to listen to them. I will listen to another that is not abridged. I wish there was some way to get my money back for this.

Great performance
I do not know why this has been abridged. Once again someone decided to produce abridged versions of Will Patton’s readings.
I can’t but feel that this was done out of pure greed by either Audible or the publisher. There is no justification for this.
