Prophesized heroes are reborn. The burden they bear is as terrible as it is necessary.

The dead city of Mahadev. In 3,000 years, none who have entered those ageless walls have returned to bear word of what evil lurks within. And yet it is there that Cinder and Anya must journey. A hard road with mysteries and dangers abounding.

And the greatest of those perils is imprisoned within the ruined temple at the very center of the necropolis’ dark heart. There, Cinder and Anya are given insight into the terrifying truth the world faces. It is an evil so vast that even the dark god Shet must bow before its will. It is the bringer of apocalypse, the ender of civilizations. If ever freed, the world will be helpless before its horrific power.

Forging an alliance all would have rather avoided, Cinder and Anya have no choice but to work with Shet to take on this greater enemy. Worse, it is a pact that will see them give away that which they hold most precious.

If you loved how Mercedes Lackey could bring together character from different series you will love this one. It takes a deft hand to weave together multiple stories, plots and time lines so fluidly.
Like all his works the details and vivid. I can not say enough good about this book.
*there are some flash back sequences so do pay attention and not zone out.

Vivid and Detailed, can't say enough great

This series continues to be a very solid progression fantasy with heavy elements of romance that are done tastefully and right. Knocked to 4 stars due to the large number of changing POVs to characters who ultimately do little more than provide exposition. Still well worth the credit/cash. Looking forward to the 4th!

Very good progression fantasy with romance elements

I did not enjoy Book 3 as much as 1 and 2. Hopefully book 4 will be better

I love how the character development has grown from one book to the next. I love that the growth of each character feels natural. They do a great job of expanding their powers without them being overpowered. The progression feels natural and you look forward to each unlocking of a new talent.

I Cannot Believe This Series Keeps Getting Better!

The support cast continues to shine. I was a little put off by all the emotional baggage the main characters have had to go through. Still, the action is solid and the story line is very good. looking forward to the next installment.

Was a good continuation.

It’s not the best book Davis has ever written, but it’s still good. There was a bit to much filler in this book. The balance of the series should be much better now that he got much of the world building out of the way

It’s going some place

The first two are spectacularly well done. That is why im so conflicted about this edition in the series. Ashura gives us another compelling story with a good mix of new interesting turns and classic tropes with a plesant twist. That said, about half way in, some events happen, which are necessary I think, but are painful for the reader and suck out some of the joy. I expect the next book in this series to be much better and I cannot wait for its release.

Frustrating but Well Done

I enjoyed the book but I just had a couple minor issues with this one. I have mixed feelings the change in dynamics between the two protagonists…it’s interesting but I had been patiently waiting for them to get to the point that they are at when they remembered each other just to have this new issue with their memories thrown in; but I suppose it’s a minor point.

The book is good it’s just very predictable and there isn’t a whole lot of unknowns…it’s a great story, interesting nuances to the story and magic systems, decent world building and good writing just…predictable.

Great but not as good as preceding books

I have loved all of the books Davis Ashura has written and have avidly read them for years. while the story gets a little long and the journey is extended in this book it's not an unwelcomed turn of events.

The story continues
