I’m so glad I actually read this one. Their story felt a bit different from the first two books in the series, and I loved that shift.

Mila Bianchi (sp? I was on audio) is our FMC and Alex Lancaster wouldn’t let us forget her last name 😂 actually stood out for me, at least until the third act, That’s when things started to slip a little. The unnecessary little fights and the repetitive inner monologues reminded me of what we saw with the FMCs in books 1 & 2. Thankfully, that phase didn’t last long, and by the end, she felt a bit stronger as a character again.

Sometimes, though, it felt like Mila turned into a reporter or investigator, poking around, trying to uncover things in these sneaky ways, and then suddenly she’s in his bed asking all the questions. It didn’t always feel natural or conversational. Once she found what she was looking for, she started digging deeper into Sigma Sin as a whole and questioning if he’d really choose her if it came down to it…which, honestly, made me chuckle because of the contradiction. That part of her arc felt a little off to me.

But we did finally get more about Sigma Sin, which I’ve been curious about since the beginning! I just wish the author had explored that through Alex’s inner monologue instead of having it come out during those awkward question scenes.
And speaking of Alex… oh, Alex! Truly a tortured soul in that quiet, under-the-surface kind of way (if that’s even a thing lol. I was intrigued by him since we got glimpses of him in the first two books, so seeing him get his own book was chef’s kiss! I only wish we’d had more of him. It almost felt like he was still a supporting character in his own story, and there were a few threads on his side that felt unfinished or rushed toward the end. I feel cheated…

Still, this book can honestly work as a standalone. You could skip books 1 and 2 and still understand everything here. I think the next one will be Patience’s story, but since it’s not on Audible yet, I’m undecided if I’ll continue. Either way, I really enjoyed this one…Alex had so many layers, and I loved uncovering them even though we are left needing more…

Oh, for those who enjoy 🌶️there’s plenty in this book…

If you’re considering this series but you’re limited on Audible credits, this is the book to get. The narrators were fantastic, CJ Grey brought Alex to life, and Mollie Black captured Mila’s college-girl energy perfectly.

The only thing I really hated the most? No epilogue with them. Ouch

Best one in the series so far!

Eva has a way with words. her stories are like poetry. reading her stories are more than just a story. the way she describes things..... she does it in a beautiful but poetic way.
