Tracy King, MA, CAE CEO and Chief Learning Strategist, InspirEd Every job Tracy has held contained a training component – it’s a fish and water thing. She’s designed corporate training, served as academic faculty, and now consults on workforce development, primarily serving professional associations and continuing education organizations. She’s a learning strategist, facilitator, and master instructional designer. Tracy’s in-the-trenches experience inspires her drive to research the intersection of learning science and technology. She’s a thought leader who breaks down the science into strategies that work. She has developed models for learning design and learner engagement, as well as the Education Enterprise Scorecard benchmarking the twenty-five drivers for profitable, sustainable, and impactful continuing education. Tracy has a master’s degree in communication; she taught communication theory and public speech at multiple academic centers to students around the world. She is an experienced speech coach and is now an invited speaker on continuing education strategy and learning design. Complementing her own study of the learning sciences, Tracy has been mentored by neuroscientists in NeuroEducation and has worked alongside them applying those best practices in designing cutting-edge online continuing medical education programs. The programs Tracy has established feature a variety of learning formats from live forums and workshops to digital self-assessment, performance improvement, and interactive multimedia education. Her programs routinely receive high ratings and defy industry completion rate standards. Tracy is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), the highest credential in nonprofit organization management. This mark of distinction is held by less than 5 percent of all association professionals. She also holds the CVEP credential acknowledging expertise in virtual, hybrid, and online learning and is certified in the Kirkpatrick Four Levels® of learning evaluation. In recognition of her expertise as a leader and innovator in the association profession, Tracy was selected as an ASAE Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) Scholar. She also served on the ASAE Professional Development Section Council, which promotes leading-edge practices in adult continuing education, and was the 2015 Council Chair. Tracy enjoys travel and is amused when people stop and ask her directions as if she’s a local in cities she’s visiting (this happens a lot!). She’s a fan of taste testing regional craft brews. And as a Great Lakes native, she loves the stunning Lake Michigan and Superior landscapes, such as the Apostle Islands, third coast beaches, Leelanau Peninsula vineyards, North Shore waterfalls, and the Lake Superior ice caves. Tracy lives in Minneapolis, the mother bear of four children, two rescue pups, and a cat ghost.
