Theodora Ross, professor of medicine, oncologist and cancer researcher directs the Cancer Genetics Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Her decision to write the book “A Cancer in the Family: take control of your genetic inheritance” (February 2, 2016) was based on the wish to not only to make this complex field accessible to general readers and medical professionals, but to encourage readers to work to transform fear and uncertainty about their genetic heritage to humor, fascination, understanding and rational hope.
