Sondra was born and raised in Alabama where she attended Snead Jr. College and the University of Alabama. She met Walter and they were married in 1964. They later moved to Missouri where they currently reside. They attend First Baptist Church of Louisburg where Sondra is pianist. They have three sons and five grandchildren. Since the release of her first book, According to Punkin, Sondra has spoken at universities, churches, conferences, civic events and retirement homes. She has had the opportunity to visit many schools, speaking with students about the rewards of reading and writing. She has had a number of interviews for newspapers, magazines and TV.
