I come from a family of storytellers. As a child, I loved to hear my Aunts, Uncles, and Grandmother tell me stories of growing up and their experiences, real or fiction! I began writing at a young age. One of my earlier pieces was a poem about the apple tree in our backyard…I loved that tree! The love of reading also joined with my love of writing.
Now, through decades of writing in all forms and genres, my literary journey led me to children’s books. My daughter always encouraged me to write in children’s/intermediate fiction. We enjoyed the incredible Harry Potter phenomenon. Living in Camden, Maine, at the time, we would gather in the village at 12 AM to get the newest release. Great fun and great memories!
My children’s series, Benjamin Nicholas: The Golden Key, Book 1, began with one simple sentence: ‘Santa stops here first’, written in my idea book years ago. Today, the one simple sentence evolved into a series with outer space visitors, magical families, the gift of wishes, magical worlds and…oh, yes…a golden key! There is only one word that has remained central in the series from that first sentence. You’ll have to read it to find out!
