Robert A. Levine has been a contributing journalist to The Moderate Voice, a centrist website for eight years, concentrating on politics. He has written six books, three on political subjects. His current book is 'The Uninformed Voter' focusing on how democracy is in decline because citizens do not seek knowledge about the candidates, the issues, and how the government functions when they cast their ballots. Votes are often determined by tribal alignment instead of information. Another of his books, 'Resurrecting Democracy', about the need for a centrist third party, details his passionate belief that America needs and is ready for an alternative to the existing, highly-partisan political parties. 'Shock Therapy for the American Health Care System' promotes Medicare for all who want it, but run by an agency independent of the government like the Federal Reserve. It provides a template for reform that would constrain escalating costs and improve quality of care. Levine has also contributed a chapter on free trade to 'Critical Perspectives on Free Trade and Globalization.' Levine is graduate of Columbia and a Vietnam veteran who became a neurologist specializing in aging and dementia. (His experience in the Army reinforced his cynicism regarding the workings of the government and the political parties.) A former Chief of Neurology at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University, he has published three books related to aging and preventing dementia. 'Aging Wisely' contains the latest information on the aging process and what we can do to slow it down along with the diseases associated with aging. 'Defying Dementia' describes the measures everyone can take to prevent or delay the onset of cognitive decline. One of Levine's previous books, 'Aging With Attitude', was picked as one of the outstanding titles of 2004 by Choice, the magazine of the American Library Association. Levine is married with two adult children. He has run nine marathons and he and his wife collect American folk art.
