Author and educator Pamela De Leon, a native of Catskill, NY, holds a bachelor's degree in Languages and History from Georgetown and was awarded a master's degree from George Mason University. After living in the Washington D.C. area for many years, it was not until she recently traveled back to her hometown in New York that she understood the profound effect the Hudson Valley had had on her childhood and youth. She says "As I was crossing the Rip Van Winkle Bridge with the glory of the Catskill Mountains rising before me, I realized there was really no other place for me. The beauty of the mountains and the river grabbed at my heart and soul. There was no turning back after that." For the last 5 years, The Savage River Valley was her true and constant companion, in which she attempted to meld the present with the past into a chronicle of the Hudson and its people. She currently resides in the Hudson Valley and finds herself completely immersed in a "New York state of mind" as she writes the sequel and wakes up every day to her inspiration that continues to evoke a sense of legend and mystery: The Hudson River.
