Neal Brown is an artist, musician and writer. Neal Brown has written for ArtReview, Frieze, Art Monthly, Modern Painters, Parkett, Independent on Sunday, Tate Etc, Flash Art, Other Criteria, Victoria Miro Gallery, White Cube, L13, Tate Publishing, Sorika, Art and Christianity, Sunday Telegraph, Tangerine Press, International Times, GQ, Magma poetry magazine, Roughler magazine, SEBRA magazine Brown was editor and publisher of 'Nineteen Raptures', a literary study of addictive compulsivity and obsession. He was writer in residence at the first (1999) Liverpool Biennial. He wrote the sleeve notes to 'Elgin Avenue Breakdown' by the 101'ers. In 2002 Brown curated 'To The Glory of God: New Religious Art' at the second Liverpool Biennial. Brown's song 'Break the Ice at Parties' originally released by the Tesco Bombers on Y records in 1982, was re-released in 2015 by Optimo Music on the compilation '[Cease & Desist] DIY (Cult Classics from the Post-Punk Era 1978-82).'
