MIKE BYSTER has a single mission: to show people how to ignite
their inner genius. Mike was born with a gift for numbers and patterns.
He began noticing number patterns even as a young child,
and when he was four years old he had memorized the birth and
death dates of the presidents of the United States, in order. At eight
years old, he started developing memory games using mnemonic
devices that would eventually become part of his life's work as a
different kind of teacher.
Over the course of more than five thousand presentations in
schools around the country between 1997 and 2007, Mike slowly
crafted and perfected an entertaining and award- winning five part
DVD program called Brainetics™ that people can now use at
home. Mike's program uses pattern awareness and mental multitasking
tools to build increased mental capacity. These techniques
not only teach people the skills to think in new ways and solve
problems that they never thought possible, but they also give them
a sense of self- confidence as they master the lessons and are able to
do amazing mental feats.
Mike fields more than ten thousand calls each year from schools
requesting him to visit, and he continues to conduct presentations
and teach kids in scores of schools each year free of charge. He also
offers programs geared specifically for adults.
Among the many outlets that have featured him are 20/20, Reader's Digest, Bloomberg
News, NPR, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun- Times, and
countless local and regional media channels across the country.
A native of Chicago, Mike still lives in the Chicago area with
his wife, Robin, and their teenage son, Josh (who, at the age of
seven, learned how to memorize a 212- digit number thanks to his
dad's teachings). He is a member of the National Council of Teachers
of Mathematics and Mensa.
