Hi I am Mike Snook. I was born in central Minnesota in 1947. After graduating from high school I joined the U.S. Army and deployed to Vietnam. I arrived in July 1967 and spent the next two years “In Country”. When I came home I went to work for AT&T in Minneapolis. I got married in 1971 and started college at the University of Minnesota. I moved with my job several times and completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree while working and raising a family. I was promoted into sales and spent the next twenty-eight years working as a national sales manager. In 1997 my life fell apart. I went through a difficult divorce after twenty-six years of a good marriage. I had some serious PTSD problems with several trips to the VA Psychiatric ward. and ended up drunk and back in Vietnam in 1997. In January 1998, after the divorce, I took early retirement and moved to Saigon. My intention was to go back to Vietnam and die. I was devastated by the loss of my marriage and family. My former boss at AT&T heard I was in Vietnam and offered me a contract position. I was assigned as country manager for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Near the end of 1998 I terminated my contract with AT&T, shaved my head, and took a flight to Vientiane, Laos. My plan was to go up the Mekong River, walk into the jungle, and die. But God had other plans. He intervened in my life by sending an Angel into a bar at 2’clock in the morning. That Angel helped delivered me from Buddhism, alcoholism, and the darkness of divorce. Today, twenty years later, I have a blessed life. I married the love of my life, Lori, in 2001. We have been doing ministry since God brought us together. We are retired, and full-time ministers of the Gospel currently serving in Kansas City, with Dave Rover Educational Assistance Programs (REAP) International. On September 11, 2018 I published “Vietnam Abyss a Journal of Unmerited Grace”. It is a book about my journey back to Vietnam to die. My journal demonstrates how God can take a broken vessel, mend it, and use it for His glory. Lori and I are being used to spread the “Good News” to veterans and Vietnamese people.
