Melonie B. Hylan writes from her home in Norman, Oklahoma. A retired professor of English, she is the author of a new amateur detective series that draws on her Oklahoma background. Hylan grew up in Oklahoma in the 1950s and received her BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught film and literature at the University of Oklahoma, the University of New Orleans, and Northern Michigan University. When Hylan is not writing, she studies Spanish, gardens, does the will of her Boston Terrier, Tiffany, and speaks out as an uppity woman. "Ashes, Ashes ..." is the first novel in the Marcella Bonneville series. Marcella reappears in Hylan's forthcoming novel, "Pitchforks and Pocketknives," to investigate an unsolved case in a small Oklahoma town from 1964.
