My memoir Self & I: A Memoir of Literary Ambition (Eye Books, 2018) was widely acclaimed, described as "a compelling reminiscence" by the Times Literary Supplement, "a moving and amusing memoir" Financial Times, and "an erudite yet hilarious account" by The Observer. My science fiction novel IF THEN was published by Angry Robot in the UK and US in September 2015. It was followed by The Destructives in March 2016. My first novel The Red Men was short-listed for the Arthur C Clarke Award and is currently being adapted for cinema by Shynola and Warp Films. Dr Easy, a short film adapted from the first chapter of The Red Men, can be watched free on Vimeo. My second book The Art of Camping: The History and Practice of Sleeping Under the Stars interwove history and memoir to explore why we camp. It was one of The Economist Books of the Year.
