Following an award-winning career as a public policymaker (he was a "footnote to history") and university faculty member, the author and his wife divide their time between Austin, Texas, and San Pablo de Buceite, Spain (a really small, rural village in Andalusia) where she is an artist and he writes essays, poetry, and fiction and tries to stay in touch with their five children and eight grandchildren.
