In our world of popular reality writings and television series, let me introduce to you a reality in my life . . .my creative series of children’s books written from my heart based on my interesting life with animals on our “almost heaven” farm in rural Rogers, Ohio. I share this innovative series called “Log Cabin Stories” of over forty-five years of research compiled from the animals that have come into my life.
My dear Father “Frank Garner Blystone didn’t permit many pets during the growing up years of myself, Kathryn Elizabeth, my three brothers, Richard Garner, Robert Paul, Steve Allen and my sister Paula Ann. However, a few did join our family during this time.
As I left the nest and married my best friend and childhood sweetheart, Harry Charles (Squeek) Watkins, my husband shared my love for animals and many have come into and shared our lives. We share the blessing of owning a 70-acre farm in Rural Northeast Ohio and have built our log cabin home in this picturesque setting.
I would like to share my journey with you and the world! I would like to tell those who have missed the privilege of caring for pets, learning about them and with them, feeling their love and loyalty, learning each of their personalities, likes and dislikes by sharing this expedition that has been truly fulfilling and has made for a wonderful life.
My Log Cabin Stories has been published by Tate Publishing. My series begins with Book 1 entitled “Pixie”. Pixie was a Shetland Sheep Dog. Book 2 is entitled “Muffin” the Cat. Book 3 is “Falicity the Quarter Horse”. Book 4 is “Bill the Bull” . Book 5 is “Baby the Goat". Book 6 is “Angel Baby", Falicity's Baby. My plans include an additional 40 books in this series. I consider my stories to be nonfiction, educational, fun and enlightening.
My credentials include over forty-five years of research and hand-on care with my animals, a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Administration, owning and operating my own ceramic business and twenty-eight years of employment in healthcare at a local hospital working as a Certified Professional in Medical Staff Services Management. My writings include a bound, non-fiction thesis on the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and a family cookbook of my favorite recipes. I also wrote a healthcare Medical Staff Coordinator Manual that I am working to get published which included my 28 years of experience in the healthcare field. I am also working on a series of children’s stories called “Big and Little” which involves fictious stories of 2 orange bears that have grown up with my precious Granddaughter Cassie who is now 11. I also have plans to write a novel entitled “Pete” My Brother, a book entitled “Letters to My Daughter” and a weight loss book.
I have developed My Log Cabin Stories series from the research I have compiled and plan to have the remainder of the 40 books drafted within the next 6 months. I have been working with Tate Publishing in marketing my books. They are currently avaiable at Barnes and Noble, Aazon, You Tube, Tate Publishing and directly from the Author. I have been marketing to the schools and libraries.
I am the sole writer of these stories and the illustrations have been developed with photos of the animals. The average length of each of these books varies between 1,000 to 3,000 words at this time.
