Kathryn A. Jones has been a journalist since 1979 and has specialized in business, travel and general interest reporting. She has written for the Dallas Times Herald, The Dallas Morning News, The New York Times, Texas Monthly and many other publications. Along the way in her long career, Jones has been honored with awards including Journalist of the Year and the Nancy Monson Freedom of Information Award from the Texas Press Association and Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas. She took on the challenge of writing about Amway after her publisher, John Wiley & Sons, wanted a corporate biography of the company for its 50th anniversary. However, Amway refused to cooperate with the writer and she spent more than a year poring over court records, interviewing current and former Independent Business Owners, attorneys, competitors and others who had experience with Amway. Striving to be objective, Jones set out to write a credible book about Amway that was neither tainted by having any relationship with the company or its supporters or detractors. She lives on a ranch southwest of Fort Worth, Texas, with an assortment of longhorns, donkeys and horses on a piece of land that offers a killer view of the Western horizon.
