Judith Siegel is an Associate Professor at the Silver School of Social Work at New York University, and Director of the Post Masters Certificate Programs in Child and Family Therapy and the online Certificate Course in Advanced Diagnosis and Assessment. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Family Social Work. Dr. Siegel received her M.S.W. from the University of Toronto, and her Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Siegel’s interests include the neurobiology of emotions and the consequences of exposure to childhood trauma. Her most recent journal publications address intergenerational emotional dysregulation in family violence and substance disorders, with a focus on prevention and treatment. Other publications reflect her interest in couple therapy, including the books Repairing Intimacy (Jason Aronson), Countertransference in Couples Therapy (co-authored with Marion Solomon and published by Norton Press), What Children Learn From Their Parents Marriage (Harper Collins) and Stop Overreacting (New Harbinger). She has presented her work throughout the United States, Canada, England, Israel and Australia.
