Jennifer Price is an award-winning professor of biology. She teaches primarily at John Tyler Community College in the Richmond, VA area, but also teaches online for other schools. She has nine years of college teaching experience and has taught at a total of 7 different colleges and universities. They include community colleges, four-year colleges, and graduate schools, giving her a broad perspective on students from many different backgrounds and at many different stages of their education. Dr. Price enjoys helping non-traditional college students to juggle work, family, and educational responsibilities. Recently, she has served as a mentor for first-year community college students. A lifelong passion for biology has guided Dr. Price in her mission to help students succeed and to get excited about science. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia and her PhD in ecology and evolution from Rutgers University. In 2020, she will lead a trip for students to the Galapagόs Islands as part of a community college course. In addition to teaching, Dr. Price has conducted research in freshwater ecology and conservation biology and previously worked as a non-game aquatic biologist at South Carolina Department of Natural resources. Dr. Price lives in Palmyra, VA with her husband, her 12-year old son, and her two horses.
