James Ochoa is a licensed professional counselor and the founder and director of The Life Empowerment Center (TLEC) in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in Houston, in a large, loving family, he was inspired by the challenges of his own learning differences to study psychology, receiving his B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.Ed. in Counseling & Guidance from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. His clinical experience includes residential and outpatient treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, prisons and his own private practice, with clients ranging in age from 4 to 84. The Life Empowerment Center offers a wide range of treatments, all in support of his passion for helping adults with ADHD to live powerfully in the midst of their emotional storms. In addition, he offers insight-and-action-based coaching and counseling to clients from all walks of life, including the business world. His certification in the Results Coaching Systems (RCS), a neuroscience-based executive coaching model, has been a key factor in guiding clients toward creative solutions to challenges in their personal and professional lives. James has been certified in EMDR since 1994, a clinical treatment model which has allowed his clients to navigate their lives more effectively through emotional distress by using the science of the mind. Since 1993, he has offered educational groups for adults with ADHD as well as longer term vision-focused Life Empowerment groups for many years. In 2016, he began offering continuing education workshops and consultations for other clinicians seeking a better understanding of how to help their clients more effectively reach their potentials by learning to navigate through the Emotional Distress Syndrome of ADHD. James lives and works with his wife, Edie Vitemb, an ADHD strategist, life coach and artist, in Austin, Texas. He enjoys constantly learning new talents along with chasing and fueling his drive of constant exploration. They have two sons, Gabe and Jules, and one very handsome brindled cattle dog.
