Helen Osterman was born in Chicago and presently lives in a suburb of the city. She has five children and nine grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Helen spent her career as a registered nurse. During that time, she wrote for professional journals and spoke at many conferences. When she retired, she took creative writing courses and began a series of cozy mysteries featuring Emma Winberry. Emma is a senior sleuth, not by choice, but by accident. She has a sixth sense and talks to her Guardian Angel. But sometimes the Angel is taking a much needed break. The published books in the series are: The Accidental Sleuth, The Stranger in the Opera House, The Elusive Relation, and a prequel to the series, Emma Winberry and the Evil Eye. The fifth book, Locked Within was released in 2013. The last book in the series is Rogue Wave, released in 2014. Danger by Design, a Net Petrone mystery was released in 2014. The sequel, Dipped in Danger will be released in the fall of 2016. Helen has also written two stand alones. Notes in a Mirror, a paranormal/historical, and Song of the Rails, a Love Story. She also has a collection of short stories titled A Visit From the Blues Brothers and Other Short Stories. Helen is an avid gardener and an accomplished artist. Four of her paintings of Old Maxwell Street in Chicago are in the permanent collection of the Chicago History Museum.
