Greg Jenner (FRHistS) is a British public historian, BBC broadcaster, and the author of several funny history books for adults and children, including the TOTALLY CHAOTIC HISTORY series. He's best known as the creator and host of the chart-topping BBC 'YOU'RE DEAD TO ME' podcast (with over 125 million downloads). Before that, he spent 11 years as the Historical Consultant on the multiple BAFTA and EMMY-award-winning BBC TV comedy sketch series 'HORRIBLE HISTORIES' and its BAFTA-nominated spin-off movie. Born in 1982, Greg was educated at the University of York from 2001-5, and in 2025 was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the University of York's Institute for the Public Understanding of the Past (IPUP) ABOUT GREG'S BOOKS: Greg's first three books were for teens and adults, and were published by W&N. Each book is illustrated by Rikin Parekh and is co-written with a different expert historian. Book 1 is called ANCIENT EGYPT GETS UNRULY, co-written with Dr Campbell Price. Book 2 is ROMAN BRITAIN GETS ROWDY with Dr Emma Southon, and Book 3 will be THE STONE AGE RUNS WILD with Dr Brenna Hassett. GREG'S BROADCASTING WORK: Greg is best known for the chart-topping BBC comedy podcast YOU'RE DEAD TO ME, which pairs up famous comedians with top academic historians to explore global history, but he has also presented BBC Radio 4's PAST FORWARD: A CENTURY OF SOUND, two series of BBC HOMESCHOOL HISTORY for children, co-hosted INSIDE VERSAILLES on BBC2 television, and has made numerous other appearances on British radio, TV, podcasts, and in newspapers. In 2021, he also advised on the YouTube Kids animated comedy adaptation of the successful CORPSE TALK comic book series. Greg is both a passionate defender and careful critic of the way in which the past is used for entertainment.
