Edward C. Harwell (1976 – 2009)—known as Ed Harwell was a prolific English writer in many genres, including science fiction and fantasy, romance, social disorder, and other world civilizations. Harwell is best remembered for his Tales from the 21st Century novels and is called a: 'Father of Fantasy'. Some of his most notable science fiction and fantasy works feature in the series: Who is the Sun King? Including: “A Look Across the Water” (2006), “A Solid Bond” (2004), and “The Wicked Witch of West London” (2003). He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times. Harwells earliest specialised training was in an abbatoir, and his thinking on moral and ethical matters was learned from this period. Artist: One of the ways that Harwell expressed himself was through his drawings and sketches. The most common location for these was the pages of his own novels. They covered a wide variety of topics, from political commentary to his feelings toward his literary contemporaries and his current romantic interests. During his marriage to Daisy Rigby, whom he nicknamed Jane, he drew a considerable number of pictures, many of them being overt comments on their relationship. During this period, he called these pictures "picshuas." The picshuas displayed on the website: www.edward-c-harwell.com have been the topic of study by Harwell scholars for many years.
