Debra Bailey is a freelance writer, nature artist, and science
educator whose previous projects range from magazine
articles and CliffsNotes, to dictionary and medical editing.
In addition, Debra has over thirty years of experience in clinical
and research laboratories, pharmaceutical AIDS research, and
medical ethics. An unrepentant history geek, her favorite time
periods are the American Revolution, World War II, the Middle
Ages, and Ancient Greece, and her only regret is not getting to
meet Apollo’s Oracle at Delphi. She is currently at work on a middle-
grade historical-fiction book—The Reluctant Hero—which is
set in Williamsburg during the American Revolution. Originally
from New England, she lives with her husband and soulmate, Ed,
in Durham, NC. They have a son, Matt, whose patience in dealing
with the antics of the college students he works with, and the
beauty of his photographic creations, never ceases to amaze them.
