Having lived for over 30 years in Berowra, a bushland suburb on the northern outskirts of Sydney, Australia, David Green now lives in Orange, a few hours' drive west of Sydney. He has been married for over 30 years and is father to an average Australian family of 2.4 children (boy, girl, dog).
For seven years, from 1995 to 2002, David wrote a weekly column titled "Priceless Pearls" for The Bush Telegraph (a local newspaper in the Hornsby to Hawkesbury region of Sydney), in which he drew on life experiences, sports, movie themes, and current events, to inspire people and make them laugh.
In 2003, David published his first book, "Toast", which is the story of his family’s experiences facing bushfires the previous year and coping with post-traumatic stress.
His second book, "Common Cents", is a common sense whole-of-life approach to taking control of your time and money. In it, David draws on his experiences in financial management, project management, and family life. He worked in finance and project management for AGC and IBM for seventeen years, and spent eleven years as a self-employed accountant to small business. In the chapter titled Down in the Dumps, David draws on the negative experience of being unemployed and the simultaneously positive experience of being "Mr Mom” for three in-between years. Between 2007 and 2015 David managed the finances of two international charities. A tree-change in 2015 took him from Berowra to Orange, a cooler climate city four hours west of Sydney. Now the Greens turn blue in Orange.
David holds a degree in Computer Science attained at the University of Melbourne, a Masters degree in Commerce/Accounting from the University of New England, and is a Member of the Institute of Public Accountants in Australia.
David’s writing is filled with unique, helpful and humorous insights into his subjects. His writing style is direct and down-to-earth. He calls himself “an ordinary bloke writing for ordinary people.”
