DJ (Doris) Stutley is the author of the action-packed Operation series of crime thrillers suitable for Young Adult readers. Her unique writing style has the ability to cross over into the Adult readers market and her books have been requested by an increasing number of adults.
Doris’ writing career began in 2001 with the publication of her first book, Operation Foxtrot Five. Operation Romeo Sierra (book 6 in the series) is due for release in 2013. The entire series is being reprinted in the US.
Doris’ first picture book, ‘It Doesn’t Matter’ was released in the US in 2012.
As well as continuing with her writing, she has been appointed as ambassador and promoter of the Armadale Young Writers Award, conducting workshops in local schools and libraries.
The Operation series of books feature fictional hero Detective Sergeant Scott Backer, who is called in to find the orphaned Smith teenagers. He sets off on a chase that will change and enrich his life in unexpected ways. After a series of dramatic events, Scott takes on the role of Court Appointed Guardian to the teenagers, and settles down to a life in Perth. But life is far from plain sailing, as he soon discovers.
The books sensitively touch on a wide range of social topics such as; people smuggling, child neglect, grief, homelessness, missing persons, organ donation and cultural issues.
