Veteran, Lawyer, Author, Winemaker Chris Missick is a happy traveler in the pursuit of a well-lived life. As a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he become one of the first handful of soldiers deployed to a combat zone to blog and document the daily life of America's modern servicemembers. His writings were chronicled in the text, Letters from the Front Lines. In law school, he paved the way with a poignant publication on the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and how it impacted child custody issues for our nation's men and women in uniform, and as a lawyer, Chris authored a primer on consumer bankruptcy, while also representing some of America's largest financial institutions with regard to corporate bankruptcy and Chapter 11 matters. At 32, Chris set out to make his home winemaking passion his profession, and moved to the Finger Lakes region of New York to manage a small winery. Taking the position as winemaker only a few years later, his wines would quickly be named by publications like Wine & Spirits as among America's best. Carrying his entrepreneurial spirit and love of books forward, Chris wrote his first wine related text in 2013. A Sense of Place, which has since been updated, was one of the first narrative histories of the early Finger Lakes wine industry. He is currently working on his next book, which discovers the connections between early American winemaking, and the Erie Canal.
