I have always written under my real name, although not all my works fit within a single 'brand'. My background is in engineering and oil exploration but I now write full time since my retirement.
My work in progress is the Roberta Stephenson trilogy for Tyche Books. The first two novels, “Steam and Stratagem” and “Spies and Subterfuge” are available here now (January 2015) with the third novel planned for November 2015. The story is a steampunk/romance taking place during 1814/1815; the Regency in Britain. In this steampunk world Napoleon is planning a new invasion of England using steamships. In 'Steam', Roberta who is manager and designer of a steamship works is building iron steam rams to defeat him. Her life is complicated by meeting three eligible bachelors while discussing her vessels with the Admiralty. In 'Spies', she has to join the spy team in Antwerp, where Napoleon's steamships are being built. She even meets Napoleon.
My Iskander series adventure/SF novels follow the career of Gisel Matah, a young woman from our future who is cast away on a 17th century alternate Earth with few of her contemporaries. Her reckless courage and a few other active talents channel her into a career as a covert operations and counterintelligence officer. The novels speak to our technological culture and the assumptions we have that non-technical cultures are fair game. Only the Kindle editions under my Autarkikal imprint are now available.
My high fantasy, "The Peril of Rast" continues this imperialist assumption, but from the perspective of those invaded instead of the invaders. Rast is a land where magic is a force of nature...untrustworthy and deadly in its assault on those who control it. The young prince and his sweetheart must combat the magic destroying the ruling Drogar; the invaders of the land; and the Princess sent to become the Prince's consort.
