Chrissy writes books. And her illustrated fantasy children’s books about music have been named among the best in the US Mom’s Choice Awards that honour excellence in family-friendly Media, Products and Services, where they achieved one Gold and three Silver Awards. These children’s stories are about Australian bush animals sharing fascinating musical adventures as they explore the wonder of musical instruments and learn to understand rhythm and music notes. Old fashioned story telling that sneaks a musical education in the background. As well as writing children’s stories Chrissy plays saxophone and electric violin and plays flute in a Swing Jazz Band. And she really does have German Shepherds who compete in State and National working dog trials and read and review all her stories. But you know what they say about getting older and retiring. The kids have grown up and left and Chrissy and her Engineer husband were free to finally do fun stuff they’d never had time for! It was time to push the envelope. To discover new lifestyle pursuits for bored retirees with a never-ending coffee break, and the opportunity of a decent afternoon nap. And with the thought that if the kids weren’t worried about what they were up to, then they were probably not doing it right: Chrissy bought a farm. Buying a farm was an insanely ambitious undertaking for a retired teacher but owning a farm in the high blue hills of Queensland, was an opportunity Chrissy couldn’t refuse. And so far-removed from her city/suburban background Chrissy became a first-time hobby farmer. She’d never done this before and thought farming was all going to run smoothly. After all, how hard can it be? With the result that Chrissy’s most recent work is a crack at nonfiction with the irreverent, hilarious and heart-warming Australian hobby farm book "What’s Really Happening on Harri-Henry’s Farm". This book is a comedic masterpiece about learning to live with farm animals, overflowing with sage farm advice, suggestions and valuable tips. The best introduction anyone will ever have, when faced with the messy chaos of a hobby farm, where animals never do quite what you expect them to. If you are a tree-changer or hobby farmer, you have to read this book.
