Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1939 I graduated from California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, in Biochemistry, the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and finished psychiatry training at Rollman Psychiatric Institute in Cincinnati in 1970. An unintentionally nomadic life style followed with private practice in five locations, six full-time employed positions, eighteen hospital staff memberships, sixteen professional titles, and membership in twelve professional organizations. Besides making a living and funding a retirement plan my goal was to learn as much as possible about human nature and why I didn't fit in. These goals completed my wife and I retired to an equestrian community near Tehachapi, California, with three horses, two dogs and four cats, and a plan to rejoin the sport of endurance riding that we'd enjoyed during thirty years of marriage, but without realizing they all had become too old. The subsequent loss of my wife to cancer, and much of the animal herd, stirred interest in the process of death and the potential for the “life after death,” that we’re promised as good people, and for which we all hope. My book reconciles these cultural expectations with the known laws of physics and reviews physical and non-physical reality, processes of life and death, and offers plausible hope of satisfying answers. It goes on to relate these ideas to philosophy and aspects of mental function that simulated my interest in writing early in my working years. I hope it can help you find answers too.
