Born and raised in Louisiana, Alice Nelson is a prolific emerging African American author and self-care counselor. From a very young age, she grew up in an environment that made her feel ashamed of her African heritage as a result of the racism she experienced because of her skin color. As time passed, she began to transform the shame she felt into pride, realizing that her roots were the ones who gave her the strength and determination to succeed in life and become the empowered woman she is today. After graduating from college, Alice realizes how important it was for other black women to have someone they could confide in as they embarked on their own self-empowering journeys. First with her job as a counselor, then writing books (like her last, “Affirmations for Black Women”), she already helped dozens and dozens of women become the strong, self-reliant women they always wanted to be.
