Publisher's summary

The second and final book in the Master of Trickery Duet!

"Must be brave, stubborn, and impervious to the tempers of loved ones".

The first line hissed with history.

"Hours are endless, pay is non-existence, quitting absolutely forbidden".

The second line ached with truth.

"Able to function on no sleep, refrain from running when times get hard, and be more than just a living canvas but a lover".

The third thrummed with honesty.

"Other attributes required: forgiving, opinionated, and not afraid to tell me when I'm wrong. Must also enjoy being touched and kissed at any time of my choosing".

The fourth glowed with promise.

"Call or email "your heart, his soul" if interested in applying."

The final made my future unfold.

The advert was so similar to one I should never have applied for.

A twist of fate that brought two destined people back together.

A job I would take in a heartbeat if the employer could offer such terms.

But I wasn't free.

Neither was Gil.

Therefore, my interview could never happen.

Excellent continuation of the series!

The Living Canvas, an Audiobook by Pepper Winters. This is book 2 of the Master of Trickery series. It is the ongoing story of Gilbert (Gil) and Olin. These two continue their maddening dance around each other. I loved the story and the premise is engaging, but Gil’s melancholy, self-deprecating, miserable, self-loathing tends to be a bit much at times. Nevertheless, the story just sucks you in!!!!!!

This Audiobook was, once again, fabulously narrated by Will M. Watt and Felicity Foster, who made the story even better!!! I especially liked that regardless of whose POV each chapter was…each female character’s voice was performed by Felicity and each male voice was performed by Will!!!!

Overall excellent story!!! Ends in a cliffhanger.

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this Audiobook.

A Captivating Story & Listen Masterfully Done!

Pepper Winters does not disappoint with this epic conclusion to her “Master of Trickery” duet and what an ending it is, but then again, after that mind-blowing ending, you knew it was going to be a wild ride. This book picks up where the first book, “The Body Painter”, left off, and to get the most of the duet it is best to start with that book, it is a not to be missed story and it lays the groundwork for events that occur in this book and it is important to know the characters history and the complexity of their relationship. We learned why Gil was frantic to earn money and he is at his wits end with what to do, sacrifice one love for another, but he has a plan and hopes it will free him from his burden and he can live a happily ever after with the ones he loves but it all backfires and blows up in his face. Decision making has never been one of Gil’s strong points even in his younger days in H.S. and the incident with his teacher and he became a victim of gullibility because he had no one to believe in him or who would fight for him, other than Olin. It has always been Olin, but life had other plans for him, something that turned out great until it became overshadowed and overrun by with evil. And it is that evil that almost cost him his life and everything he loved. This story tugged on my heartstrings, for both Gil and Olin, Olive too who steals your heart and the show many times, Justin was pretty amazing as well. There is never a dull moment in this book and like the first book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, thrilling & suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotions, and a once in a lifetime romance. Secrets are revealed, sacrifices made and then healing and forgiveness, I loved how much the characters grew by the end. Pepper Winters thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Will M Watt and Felicity Foster continue to deliver and outstanding performance, bringing these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that was a perfect fit to that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They were consistent with the characters’ voices throughout the duet. Foster’s Olin was spot on, she grasped her every emotion and had you feeling every single one. Watt nailed it as Gil grasped his tortured soul with perfection and had you feeling his conflict and angst. Both were fantastic performing all the secondary roles too. These mega talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Cliffhanger? ❌️

Do I recommend? ✅️!

Trigger Warnings: ☠️ ☠️ please educate yourself!

Tropes: dark romantic suspense

After the shocking cliffhanger in the last book, I didn’t see how Gil and Olin could possibly win their HEA. The opening of this book picks up right where that left us. Can Olin grant the ultimate forgiveness? Will Gil save Olive and rid his uncle from their lives? Sweet Olin has finally reached the point of no return. No one could blame her if she turned her back on Gil. Pepper Winters will keep you constantly guessing and hoping everything will work out. I stayed on the edge of my seat until the very end.

I listened to this audiobook as well. I fell even more in love with Will M. Watt's voice and ability to narrate. Not to leave out Felicity Foster because she was amazing as well. They deserve way more than five stars for their performance and so does the author. Incredible duet! This is my honest opinion, freely given.

So great!

As soon as i found out about this second installment i couldn't wait to get into it. After listening to book one, i couldn't wait to dive into this audiobook! I started listening to it as soon as i could. I got pulled right back into the Master of Trickery world. I really enjoyed this listen so very much!

My audiobook loving heart was so happy to listen to both Will M Watt and Felicity Foster once again! These two and their narration once again had me hooked and glued to my earbuds. Will and Felicity were so fantastic with their narration. Getting to experience these two narrating and bringing Olin and Gil life again in such awesome ways was so great.

Gil and Olin's journey continues! I've been on the edge of my seat and was so glad to get back into this world with these characters. I wasn't sure how everything was going to play out this time around and i really liked how that got me into this audiobook even more. This story and it's characters had me feeling such a range of emotions throughout! I could picture it all clearly.

With The Living Canvas, Ms.Winters has created such a good and dark continuation i didn't want to stop listening to! I was so glad that i finally got to jump back into the Master of Trickery world. If you haven't listened to Will M Watt's and Felicity Foster's narration, you so NEED to! This journey and their voices are not to be missed!

There are triggers and this is a dark listen.

What a finale with Gil and Olin

The conclusion of the Master of Trickery Duet is a roller coaster of everything that makes up an intense dark romance that gives readers the answers they were craving when the first book ended. It is not a standalone and I will advise those with triggers to proceed with caution. Pepper Winters is a queen when it comes to writing these emotional angsty storylines that will have listeners on the edge of their seats as Gil and Olin are put through their paces. There is so much action and drama that takes place that it will gut you and heal you when all is said and done. Will M. Watt and Felicity Foster do an amazing job bringing these characters to life and I cannot get enough of Will’s accent. This is one audiobook that will suck you in and not let you go. It is not to be missed.

The author never fails to keep me guessing about how she will resolve and bring the plot to its conclusion. Narration was perfection.

Intense Ride

The Living Canvas is an insane roller coaster full of suspense and angst and had me run a gamut of emotions.  I wanted to yell at Gil for some of his decisions, yet my heart ached for him. We learn his gut-wrenching backstory. Olin comes into her own but struggles with wanting to know the truth and knowing she still needs to protect herself. This story was a page-turner, and I couldn't wait to see how things would work out and how they'd get to a hea.

The duet narration is fantastic and performed by Will M. Watt and Felicity Foster.

Master of Trickery

The Living Canvas (Master of Trickery, Book 2) is the finale of this duet. An enticing synopsis to end this story. I enjoyed this book even more than book one. Character's are multi-faceted and growth dispersed throughout the duet. Olive is a favorite character of mine. I enjoyed the two epiloguea at rhe end. A perfect ending to this duet.

Will M Watt, Felicity Foster dual narration brought the story and characters to reality. Their inflections fit the character roles. Easy listening as the pages flipped consistently and smoothly.

Excellent performance and great ending to story.
