I loved reading Persephone when it came out. But listening to Gregory Salinas narrate this story to me takes it to a whole other level. He was absolutely perfect, first and foremost, in how he captures Hades and how you just completely get lost in hearing him tell you the tale of the God of the Underworld finding his Goddess of Spring. Even when he is reading as Persephone it just works. This is just a perfect, and freakin hot, listen. A must have!!!

The synopsis for ‘Persephone’ is right up my alley, unfortunately the end result was disappointing. Reading a Kitty Thomas book is usually a guaranteed great time for me. In fact, the only reason I have not read all of her books is because I like to save and space out the fun. I did not feel that way with this book. It was not that it was bad as much as it lack substance. I did not feel any depth from the characters or their relationship. Persephone especially fell flat, and seemed pretty dim. The whole plot was very basic, and the conflicts minor and not very intriguing. The sexual aspects also did nothing for me, seeming somewhat tagged on for dark erotica. Overall I hate being negative about an author I admire, but this has been my least entertaining Kitty Thomas experience thus far.

On a positive note, the actor, Gregory Salinas, was wonderful. I really enjoyed his performance as a whole and thought he fit the tone perfectly.

Persephone is by far my favorite Greek myth and in my top five favorite stories in general of all time, and Kitty Thomas is my favorite dark romance author, so I was beyond excited when I read that she was recreating this classic story in her own voice. I had already read the ebook, but listening to it with the narrator she chose was a completely different experience in the best way. Hades is as dark and tortured as you could want him to be. Persephone slowly develops a quiet strength as she becomes who she was meant to be—a goddess who has the power to find life and healing in a death, broken thing. Gregory Salinas did a great job of capturing the emotional depth of each character and helping me get lost in the story in a new way, and I’d definitely love to hear more from him.

Not for the vanilla people out there. If you can’t handle some BDSM then this is not a book for you. THIS BOOK WAS GREAT. I want another one honestly. The narrator was perfect.

I loved the story, I loved the narrator, I loved everything about this book! Kitty Thomas I WANT more, please!

I have not heard this narrator before but let me tell you he helped make this book! Not that this book wasn’t already great but when he started whispering words in my ears I was a goner. Perfection! 5+ STARS
