Killian Barclay is a grumpy Scottish billionaire who hates me…and now I'm his wife.

Their marriage of convenience is anything but…

All Killian Barclay wants is to be left the hell alone. He's had enough heartache to last a lifetime, and he has no more need for love—earning him the reputation of a broody Scot and eventually turning his famous ancestral home into a den of iniquity. It doesn't take long for tales of his raunchy house parties to reach the rest of his family, though, inspiring them to hatch a plan to shake Killian out of his routine.

New Yorker Sylvie Devereaux is tough as nails—as the daughter of famous yet neglectful parents, she's grown a hard shell and keeps everyone at arm's length. So when she sneaks into Barclay Manor during a trip to Scotland to get a glimpse of a famous heirloom, she doesn't anticipate facing off against the brutish, maddening highlander who lives there. And she certainly didn't expect to ever see the bastard again.

Yet just weeks later, she's approached by Killian's family with a proposal—move to Scotland and marry Killian to improve his playboy reputation, and after one year, she'll walk away with ten million dollars. Sylvie agrees, even knowing that their plan is more deceptive than he realizes. But as she grows closer to Killian and the end of their year together, she has to decide: Is the love of a good man with a dark soul worth keeping, or is she willing to break Killian's heart now that it's well and truly hers?

I grabbed this as an audiobook from Audible as a part of my Amazon Music subscription. It was an enjoyable listen. Will Watt's accent is to die for. Keli Tager was able to demonstrate her array of accents: American, Scottish, and British. I was impressed. The story was good, but I did feel like the secret was kept for too long. It made me anxious, but I can see how it lends itself to the plot. If you enjoy Sara Cate's books, pick this one up. I will for sure be picking up the subsequent books in this series.

Great new direction for Sara Cate

I'm a big fan of a marriage of convenience romance, especially when it delivers on all of the best parts of that trope. The "my wife" moments were top tier and we also got the whole term of endearment thing that starts off as sarcastic and then turns into the real deal. We love to see it!!

However, I am not a fan of secret keeping so it was hard to enjoy this book sometimes knowing The Big Bad™ was looming. I did like the way the ending unfolded though so I guess I can't be too upset about it lmao.

Killian was ROUGH in the first half of this book. I feel like calling him mean is an understatement lmao. Sylvie is a stronger woman than I am cause I don't think I could stand being called a cow/wench/bitch as often as she did. It was really endearing to see him [eventually] show his sweet side as he fell in love with her.

I oscillated between my feelings about the audiobook lol. I will never say this because I actually love dual style audiobooks, but this one would have greatly benefited from being duet considering the fmc is American and the mmc is Scottish. The female narrator did her best with the accent, but some times it was not great.

Marriage of Convenience w/ a broody Scot? Yes pls!

"'Keep Me' by Sara Cate is an amazing read that took me on an emotional whirlwind, yet every twist was rewarding in the end. What I truly appreciated was how the book centered more on healing, with just the right sprinkle of spice."

GREAT STORY!!!!

I have always enjoyed Sara Cate’s writing but this story is one I won’t soon forget. Enemies to lovers and fake marriages are popular tropes in romance books but Cate takes it to the next level with Killian and Sylvie. The paralyzing trauma Killian suffered after the death of his parents left him physically unable to leave his home. Seeking to escape the utter disdain her parents show toward their only child left Sylvie angry and alone. As circumstances bring these two broken people together in a fake marriage, Cate weaves a spicy poignant journey of acceptance, love and healing. The strength of Killian and Sylvie’s relationship speaks to the most perfect kind of love; where broken souls find peace and healing in one another. This one gets all the stars!!
