Publisher's summary

Halrin Kentar’s life was one of dusty books, elvish translations, and political appearances. As the son of one of the most prominent Voicemen in the Collected Provinces, he lived a controlled and sheltered existence. He would never be a duelist or a soldier, and he hated the future that was expected for him as much as any young man could.

And then everything changed. Carried off to an unknown land filled with magic, maidens, and monsters, he’s given a chance to be who he wants through the cruelest twist of fate. Hal’s prepared to do anything for revenge, including becoming the apprentice of an alluring female sword master, and learning to use the magic of hot emotion, passion, and lust.

One life ends and another begins.

WARNING: This is an erotic fantasy novel. It contains a significant amount of explicit sexual content and some adult emotional situations. Discretion is advised.

Definitely Interesting

This is definitely an interesting book with a very different take on mastery of magic. I find the MC a little slow but that is explainable it will be intolerable if he doesn’t at least explain his thinking in the second book. A lot of build up for a second book and a good conclusion to the first. Jessica Jeffries narration is excellent and definitely added to the books view in my head! If you are into this kind of story I believe you will enjoy Heartgem Homestead!

unique story

I didnt give the story 5 stars because of the cliffhanger. the second book came out after 11 months so I listened again. I am anxious to listen to more of the story , but if the author leaves us hanging for another year his books will go unread. It is a shame the characters are good and the story is going forward at a good pace. the mc can be oblivious at times but he is likeable and worthy.

not his best work, but not bad

this feels like it might have been one of his early works, it was still good, but I found some of the story structure somewhat wanting. narrator did an excellent job.

YA book gone bad

This book is about a young man age 20, who life has changed and he has to learn to cope. And he can only think about sex and revenge.

Forced myself to finish

The only reason this isn't a child's book is the sex scenes, which are short and unemotional as they are what propels the so called hero of the story forward. The hero gets a stone, and he's trying to figure out the power which happens to come from passion, which he and whomever he's using lacks. His goal is to kill a dragon. That's the whole plot. The rest of the story is dinners in a small town.
