Enemy is an emotionally gripping and very steamy mafia romance, featuring a captivating older Dom and a prickly but sweet sub.
Giorgio is such a lovely character. As the father of queer twins who are leaving home for college, he explores his feelings and his new sexuality in a very interesting way.
Young Basil wants to establish his status in the Russian mafia by trying to eliminate his supposed enemy, Giorgio.
All of this leads to lots of hilarious and extremely steamy scenes! Loved it.

The story is set in San Francisco. Giorgio, aka George, is a retired Italian mafia don with a bit of sadistic streak. Vasily, aka Basil, is 23 and just getting into the family business: the Russian mafia, aka the bratva. Encouraged by his aunt to prove himself by killing an enemy, Basil searches for George... to find him in queer kink club. Some sexual tension leads George to take Basil home, where Basil's attempt to kill George quickly gets him captured. Instead of killing the would-be assassin, George decides to torture Basil for a few days, that is sexually torture.
This is more of a kink book than a mafia book. Outside of the quickly thwarted assassination attempt, there's little criminal activity going on (...well there is the lack of consent). The book is very much focused on the pair, with their relationships with their families as the secondary plot. While consent is very questionable in the first half of the book, Basil is very much enjoying himself throughout. There is a real HEA (not just a Stockholm kind).
What I loved about the book: the kink 🌡️🥵 (especially the cock cage and sounding), the dub con (I enjoy some darkness in my romances), and the satisfying happy ending.
My biggest irk was the Russian 😅. If you don't know Russian, then this is a non-issue for you. If you do know Russian, the good news is that it's infrequent within the book. Both the author's word choices (machine translations?) and the narrator's pronunciation (in particular some character names) weren't great. But this is an independently published book and I've seen Hollywood butcher the language. It is what it is.
This is my first time listening to Sacha Husband and I think this may be his first MM romance. He did a great job and I would buy his work in the future.
