For listeners, it’s simple: open Audible, find a title, press play, and get swept away. For those who want to interact even more with their titles, there are a suite of finely tuned features that we’re constantly transforming to make the listening experience even more immersive and effortless. Read on to learn about our latest technological advancements, including how we’ve created new ways to save favorite moments, discover titles across the exact right microgenres, get information about beloved classics using an AI assistant, and more.

Ask a Question About Your Latest Listen

For customers who are eager to deepen their understanding of a story, we’ve recently unveiled Ask a Question, an in-app beta feature that lets US listeners ask questions about the audiobook they’re listening to, and receive immediate answers without interrupting their listening experience or leaving the app.

The feature is available on thousands of eligible classic stories and public domain titles within the Audible catalog that customers have purchased or can access through their membership, like Audible’s new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. When enjoying these titles, customers can simply tap a button in the Audible player, ask a question about character backgrounds, plot details, historical context, and more, and receive answers while the audiobook continues to play.

Mark an Unforgettable Moment

We all have those moments in a title that we love and want to revisit time and again. To help listeners do so quickly and easily, we've reimagined our interface and flow for clips and notes. Now, it’s easier than ever to add and edit personal notes, create clips with custom lengths, and navigate bookmarks using categories like chapter names, timestamps, and creation dates–making personal audio highlights even more accessible.

We’re further streamlining the experience so users can access their clips and bookmarks directly from their library, edit clips and notes on a single screen, and quickly jump to saved positions or play specific clips – creating a seamless way for listeners return to their favorite moments.

Keep the Story Going with Continuous Play

Whether it’s with Dungeon Crawler Carl, Oracle, or Cradle, many customers love getting lost in a long-running series. With continuous play, we’ve made it effortless to keep the story going with next title in a series. Once an audiobook is finished, the following book will automatically start playing. If a listener owns the title, it’ll play in full. If not, they’ll be treated to a five-minute sample as a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Dive Deep into Audible’s Catalog Using Tags

With hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, Audible customers have nearly limitless options to explore their favorite genres and latest obsessions. Listeners can now use tags to narrow down their interests by selecting keywords as specific as “family life,” “police procedural,” or “romantic suspense.” Best of all, personalization can be taken to the next level when multiple tags are selected at the same time—meaning customers can easily find that perfect romantic crime thriller with a focus on family life, or select from any of the many microgenres on Audible.

New Views into Listening

We’ve recently rolled out new features that give customers more ways to view their titles and listening. When combing through their Audible libraries, listeners can now alternate between a list view and a grid view, which shows larger cover art for a more visual way of browsing. We’ve also added a “% completed” feature into the Audible player, providing insight into your titles’ progress with just a glance. This feature can be toggled on or off in settings.

We’re proud to have millions of customers who can’t wait to get immersed in a great listen. With these features—and many more on the horizon—discovering and exploring that next title is even better than ever.
