Handsome rancher's new ranch hand hides a surprise
I enjoyed the ins and outs of everyday ranch work as described in the book as I grew up around cowboys and ranch hands myself. There is a good storyli..Show More »ne here and Mallory Kirk is a very strong character. Surprised however that he was so easily fooled by the rag girlfriend who could not leave quick enough for me. Morie Brannt is a very strong heroine in this story. Gives as good as she gets though she is still vulnerable to her feelings for him. She of course, is hiding things from him as all heroines seem to do. Lots of good support characters who I am sure will get books or make appearances in later books.
Ok, this story really rocked me, and I don't know if it was the fantastic telling of the story, or the characters in the story or that sexy, mouth wat..Show More »ering, heat in your pants Phil Gigante narrating, needless to say I listened to this story twice. Cane Kirk is a Veteran, who has lost part of his arm, and has been rejected by a couple of females because they "didn't want to get involved with a cripple." This has made him surly, rude, and angry. He frequently ties one and goes on a rampage and the only one who he responds to is Bodie. Well Bodie has issues of her own and when she asks Cane for monetary help he takes it wrong, and goes off on her, leading her to do the only thing she can to save her family.
Don't miss out on this one it was really good, and especially with Phil narrating and Natalie Ross producing. This is one hot couple that can really tell a tale. This two did the last 3 books in the Fever series, by Karen Moning. They really bought the books alive.
I think the books plot was good. The character of Nicky was not believable. I don't think any young lady of our time period could have been so naive ..Show More »about everything. Also there were to many inmate scene after which she was supposed to still be totally clueless about sex. I think that this character should have been made to appear like the young adult she is and not a child. Also the character of Blaire needs a lot of tweaking as well.

She ends up hiding out at Ren Colter's ranch. She has a stalker/hitman hot on her trails. Ren assumes the worst and makes a move on the shy beauty. He assumes she is a worldly. Meredith moves back to Texas to safety away from the hitman and Ren. But is injured when another man attempts to kill her. So the romance continues with her recovery.
The story is OK. Ren is a woman hater. Meredith is a bit too down trodden from abuse. Loopholes in the plot....Heroine can order all kinds of stuff on amazon yet cannot order her own coat and gloves? The reader is a man who is good in male voices but his horrible female impressions is both distracting and makes it hard to want finish the book. Why not get a "real" female to read this book? It could only improve it. I give it over all 3 STARS.....
