Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Diana Palmer's dramatic tale of an embittered small-town sheriff as he comes face to face with the woman who has haunted his dreams for years.

She's haunted his dreams for years, and now she’s back to wreak havoc on his heart

When Sheriff Cody Banks’s wife died, he blamed Abby Brennan for the illness he's sure killed Deborah and, in his grief, made sure she knew it. Looking back now, he knows that his behavior was likely the reason Abby left town years ago. So when he sees her—and the child she’s raising—at her great-uncle's funeral, Cody attempts to apologize, ashamed to see the fear he puts in her beautiful eyes and determined to show her he's no longer that same angry man.

The only reason Abby returned to Catelow, Wyoming, was to bury her last living relative. She has studiously avoided Cody Banks ever since he made it clear how much he resents her, focusing instead on raising her young niece and keeping her own family legacy alive. But when Abby inherits the property adjoining Cody’s, she can't help but face the handsome sheriff who still lingers in her memory. Circumstances keep pulling them together, but has time healed their wounds and given them a chance at a happily-ever-after?

Everything I’ve come to expect….

Her stories are quiet and I know when I need a break from fast-paced everything she’s my go to. I really enjoyed your male narrator, he was perfectly matched to the character, but, for future reference please spend the extra for a female co-narrator. It would bring so much more to the story.😊

Love Diana Palmer

I love being able to go back and learn how everyone’s lives have turned out and their relationships. Sometimes it doesn’t match by little comments but the characters are loved.
Thank you for Cody’s story can’t wait to read Lassiter’s story next remember his mom and dads story.

Very Disappointed!

I’ve read a majority of Ms. Palmer’s books over the years and always enjoyed them. Unfortunately, I can’t encourage others to read or listen to this book. Ms. Palmer wrote the same details MANY times throughout the story (I won’t share them because it impacts the next reader’s experience). So, a lot of the book was quite redundant. I worked out who the “bad guys” were very early in the story, so there wasn’t any real mystery there either.

An additional criticism—I don’t buy a work of fiction to read or hear the author’s personal views on public schools, gangs, politics, or religion. I felt like I was being preached to during parts of the book because of this.

Again, what a disappointment in Ms. Palmer’s work.

Ms.O

Very disappointed. Too much same old same old phrases and situational dialogue. I like ms Palmer usually but this was a very staid rendering.
