Publisher's summary

Deep in the woods, mankind is the endangered species.

Derek Jenner, the Crypto-Hunter, is back! Something is terrorizing the inhabitants of the Garden State, leaving a trail of missing persons and mutilated bodies in its wake. All signs point to the Jersey Devil, a creature long considered a hoax even in the cryptozoological community. Desperate for answers, the authorities summon Derek and his team to investigate.

Now, the hunters are about to become the hunted because what lurks in the forest is more horrifying than they could ever imagine - a nightmare of man's own making that's about to set its sights in their direction.

Sadly for them, a corrupt government official will do everything in his power to cover up the terrible secret that lies at the heart of the Pine Barrens...even if it means sacrificing Derek's team to a fate worse than death.

Loved it!!!

Being from New Jersey, a cryptid fan, and a Rick Gualtieri fan, I had been seriously looking forward to this sequel to Bigfoot Hunters. I was not disappointed!! Absolutely fantastic horror book and well done!!!

Well Damn

This is only the second book from this author (Bigfoot Hunters was first), and it definitely won’t be the last (Kraken Hunters already waiting). This book is full of shocking, jaw dropping scenes. Love the details author gives to each creature and the spin on them. The characters are really enjoyable and keep you interested just as much as the monsters. Spoiler ahead stop now .

I know new hunters may get added, but why are so many of the main characters killed off. We barely have any original hunters left to love. Hoping in the next book at least 1 will be alive, but that’s a very and I mean very small hope.

Wow! Great Gruesome!

Loved it like the 1st in the series. Can you say "The Hills Have Eyes!" You never really know who is going to survive! I am off to the next one.
Get all of these so this writer can continue this series even further. Narrator was awesome!

The Best Jersey Devil Story I've Found

If you live in New Jersey, you have heard countless tales of the enigmatic creature known as the Jersey Devil. Gualtieri’s second installment in his excellent Cryptid Hunters series gives a disturbing but thoroughly satisfying explanation for the legend. Throw in a lot of high-powered political interference with the investigation and you have a satisfying tale. This one reads like a combination of Deliverance and They Want Your Women. There were many times when I feared that Gualtieri was going to take the easy way out and make this book a cringe fest. But he never gave into the temptation and he kept the action credible and enjoyable from beginning to end.

Frankly, the Jersey Devil storyline is very creepy and as the monster appears it just gets more and more disturbing—right down to the fascination with the name, Sarah, which will make sense to you when you start reading it. Wherein the first book was very much on the blood and guts side of the equation with a lot of excellent tension building, I feel that this one, despite copious amounts of action, falls better into the horror genre. It’s just flat out creepy from beginning to end—which makes it all the more enjoyable.

The G-man Delivers again!

I always enjoy books that are written as a series, and Rick Gualtieri has written some of my all-time favorite characters in his series of books. The Tome of Bill is what introduced me to his works. The Bigfoot hunters and this, it's sequel are phenomenal books that I highly recommend. While they're not lighthearted like the Bill books they are every bit as engaging and entertaining.

Divided opinion

The story was really good, but it isn't what I was expecting. After listening to Bigfoot Hunters, I expected the Jersey Devil to be an actual creature. Instead, mutated inbred backwoods killer rapists is what I got. It's not the same kind of monster I was looking forward to reading about.

Despite my initial disappointment, this was really a great listen. The narration is fantastic once again. I certainly recommend this book and series.

Couldn’t finish it

I loved Bigfoot Hunters but this one was really bad. The story moved too slow and I couldn’t force myself to finish it.

Stick with the devil not hillbillies.

Just a worse version of the hills have eyes in jersey. The lack of character development and the droning on left me feeling irritated and wanting a conclusion. The story just seemed lazy.
