Publisher's summary

Angus Bjornson only ever wanted to do one thing: to continue crafting exquisite weapons and pieces of armor for his loyal customers. Unfortunately, after one accident too many that leaves the old blacksmith completely disabled, it would seem he has no other choice but to hang up his hammer.

However, that would be underestimating the stubbornness of the self-made man. Fearing he's not going to stop until he ends up dead in his forge, Angus' children offer him a virtual rig that connects to Imperium Games' many universes.

After choosing a fantasy-based world called Alterwelt, Angus - now known as Hephaestus - quickly learns that he can make use of his lifetime of experience by disabling the auto function and playing on manual. His skills allow him to create unique items that beat everything sold on the market. But Hephaestus has a long way to go before he can afford his own in-game forge. Moreover, he only ever learned to work with steel while here he has access to metals as strange and exotic as azuraneum, veridium, orichalcum....

Good stand alone book.

while I liked the book I doubt I will get the next one as I do not see what else another one has to add in the premise.

THIS IS AWESOME

This was a great listen. The detail Phenomenal, the story Phenomenal, the characters PHE-NOM-MENAL. This book is a very touching tale that explores many interesting ideas, like how important morality is in game world and what true reality means. It really is interesting to see how much meaning the game world could bring to the protagonist otherwise sad life. The detail that the author uses to describe the crafts the MC creates really emphasizes this passion he has for the game. Overall this was a lovely listen and i would recommend it to any one who like the crafting aspects of litrpg's,

I will not lie I had doubts when I started this book, a litrpg all about crafting no adventure no dungeons murder hobos etc. but this book is a masterpiece a true work of art much like the smithing of our beloved mc. The book is engaging, imaginative and much more I can’t wait for the next book and highly surest you stop reading reviews bye the book and get lost in this beautiful world of smithing and fantasy. (Warning this book, Will make you have the feels you will smile, cry and much more with this mc)

👍

Story was good but the conflict with the “bad guy” was extended more than necessary and the wrap up seemed a bit rushed

A Harty Meal

This noble VR story is thought proving and heart felt. The adventure was absolutely juicy with the craft of Blacksmithing. I'd be willing to bet this book could be used to teach people how to be a real smith! Praises To The Writer!!!

Good smithing, Ok mechanics

Enjoyed most of the story. The ending part was a bit weak. As someone who works in IT, it feels like such a big company would have a much better infrastructure. I don’t see the company going very far before they start getting sued every day. But this is a story so it can do what it wants

Good story

Good story ok narrator.

Just fair warning to anybody that actually knows and likes blacksmithing the author may have talk to somebody who knows how to do it and that’s about it. He does seem to know his armor and weapons though no 10 pound long swords here.

Good story

The story was entertaining but the narration but pretty rough to listen to. The narrator would pause between every sentence. I dont know if it was a editing thing or just how the narrator did it but it was pretty annoying. If it wasn't for the story being good I would of stopped halfway through .

Great Smithing Litrpg

I really love the main character and the premise of this book. The smithing aspect was great and very knowledgeable for somebody who doesn’t know a lot. There are some terms that he uses that are not explained so you kind of have to know some general knowledge but not a lot to get through it. I love listening to books were the main characters not overpowered and as a spell sword or something cookie-cutter like a lot of the other books are. If you want to listen to something different this is a book to read
