Publisher's summary

A new world. A new life. A chance to start over.

Through no fault of his own, Joe’s life was starting on a downward spiral. Bad things can happen to good people, but this is not much comfort for those who are treading water, trying not to be drowned by misfortune.

Luckily, sometimes people can catch a break, a chance to start over.

When he's transported to an alternate Earth full of magic, wonder, and light RPG elements, Joe just wants to build a comfortable life. He begins to put down roots and make friends in the port city of Lockwood.

But can he make a home for himself when fire spirits scorch his bathroom, demon dogs trample his rose garden, and countless other magical mayhem threatens his peace?

Don't miss the start of the cozy fantasy LitRPG series that proves that even in the quietest lives, the most dramatic things happen. A recipe gone awry because you lack one important ingredient and you need to make this cake for someone you love for their birthday, which happens to be the next day. Low stakes? Nah.

Now add magic, dragons, spirits, and gods. And Joe.

Joe is a cool guy.

You'll like Joe.

Charming

Light hearted and unabashedly noble. It can be nice to have a kind character walking out gentleness and consideration.

It wasn't great.

Main character was kind of a wimp. Living his life fear of offending anyone around him. Everything was handed to him with no consequence, price, or repercussion. By "everything," I mean his crazy physics breaking power and who doesn't have a random mansion for our whimsical main character?

I don't know if the author was trolling or super high while writing this book, but if you took a shot every time he said "sense of pride," you'd be in the hospital for alcohol poisoning by the end.

I don't think I'll be continuing this series.

Relaxing

If you need a relaxed story with some slice of life than this will be your thing. A good palette cleanser.

good start but fell off towards the end

I understand the main character is a pure soul but there is a difference between a pure soul and a door mat he is spinless and just lets everyone walk all over him
I like these slice of life stories but the character has to have some spine some desire beyond existing for a story to be good

MC has no spine

I love a good slice of life but man the Mc is just walked all over. It’s one tho by to be nice and help everyone but to be taken advantage of and then given nothing but be taken advantage of again. Like come on. And he is never upset about it. He is walked on and thrown dirt at and then thanks them for being his friends. Not even a thought that might justify this. Just to be clear the above is metaphorical not an actual scene.

A Fun listen

I liked every thing about this story. The narrator was spot on.he made the chractors come to life. This was a good audio presentation, well worth the the money spent.
So much so that I have purchased book two and eagerly awaiting book 3.

A solid listen

It was a relaxing slice of life listen. The MC's power was unique from previous books I have read, and it was quite interesting seeing how he used it.

Its okay

It was a good story though I would have enjoyed it more if he wasn’t so accommodating and latches on to people way too easily

started strong

I would put this a YA novel. The Mc is very concerned with other people's feelings. He should have a heart attack with how often his heart is pounding...

MC isn't neutered he's Beware of Chicken Canadian

I read a lot of reviews that suggested that the MC is kind of a waste who underutilized his Goddess given power. I found that this story was one where a person experienced harsh circumstances & difficulties in life yet harbored no resentment. A man who has no lover, was screwed over by their business partner, and was being crushed slowly financially through medical debts. The story is truly unrealistic, and defies expectations, but honestly all of my favorite stories are like that. I couldn't have predicted the paths that the characters would take because I'm not them, and could never think like them. Any person who has the heart to err on the side of empathy while dealing with terminal cancer is an idyllic Canadian of mythic proportion in my book. The fact that the MC doesn't immediately create Excalibur upon discovering his powers speaks volumes about his character. It doesn't make him a weakling, restraint is a highly undervalued trait in people. If a title has cozy, and craftsman in it, I expect slice of life and a carefree read, not a heroic tale of derring-do. Just saying.
